Surrounded by Jamaica Pond’s vibrant hues, the Jamaica Plain Saxophone Quartet’s (JPSQ) performance, Sonic Visions, will revolve around color as it relates to music. The focal point of the set is a piece of music called Five Colors, which explores the visual realization of various sounds. The piece evokes different colors emerging from the musical texture, just as colors emerge naturally through a heavy fog.
The JPSQ is made up of Sean Mix, Andy Wilds, Scott Chamberlin, and David Stevens. Formed in 2017, the JPSQ regularly performs in community and outreach concerts with a variety of programs that include classical music, pop and rock tunes, jazz standards, South American music, and contemporary classical.
