The Franklin Park Zoo will depict the extinction of animals and the conservation efforts of zoos to slow or prevent the loss of biodiversity. Performers, including zookeepers, will use photographs of animals, both extinct and brought back from the brink of extinction, to intertwine Olmsted’s vision for Franklin Park with the global conservation work of the modern zoo. This performance will include two narrators: an actor portraying Frederick Law Olmsted and a zoo historian.
This program is made possible with generous support from Barbara and Amos Hostetter and Eugene M. Lang Foundation.
