Boston Interpreters Collective

October 21, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

10 interpreters – in 6 languages – will share personal stories inspired by the themes of artist Fujiko Nakaya’s fog sculptures through the lens of migration, learning a new language (sometimes by force), and language justice. Speaking in Portuguese, Haitian Creole, American Sign Language, Spanish, Arabic and English and using relay & simultaneous interpretation with equipment, Interpreter-Performers will create a living soundscape: Audience members can move among us, surrounded by the fog, listening to/observing each story in 6 languages, not knowing exactly who the storyteller is, each story both personal and collective.

Performances at 2 and 2:30pm.

This program is made possible with generous support from Barbara and Amos Hostetter and Eugene M. Lang Foundation.
