2014 Liff Spirit Award Honoree
Elizabeth Barlow Rogers
Founder, Central Park Conservancy
As founder of the Central Parks Conservancy in 1980, Elizabeth Barlow Rogers is a champion of urban parks preservation and a leading authority on the pivotal role that private public partnerships play in the restoration and maintenance of historic landscapes. Like other conservancies and friends groups around the country, The Emerald Necklace Conservancy was modeled after her pioneering work in New York City’s beloved and iconic park.
An inspiration to Justine Mee Liff, in whose honor this award is given each year, Betsy is an expert on the work of Frederick Law Olmsted and a noted landscape designer, teacher, lecturer and author. In her current role as president of the Foundation for Landscape Studies, she continues to foster understanding of the importance of place in human life. We are honored that she will accept the 2014 Liff Spirit Award.
