Keeping Bostonians Warm

About the event

We are excited to announce the return of the Conservancy’s Winter Clothing Drive! Now in its sixth year, we partner with ABCD (Action for Boston Community Development) for this annual tradition to supply families in need with cold-weather gear, to keep warm and enable them to enjoy the outdoors year-round. To date, we have collected over 5,000 items!

This year, ABCD requests items including:

  • Coats, sweaters and other warm clothing

  • Winter accessories such as hats, scarves and gloves

  • Warm bedding and blankets

  • Baby and toddler clothing

  • Rain covers for strollers

Have a few hours to give? We also need volunteers to help sort and organize donations at the Curley House. If you're interested in joining our sorting team, please reach out to Maya Diaz at mdiaz@emeraldnecklace.org to help keep our neighbors warm this winter!

The 2026 Winter Clothing Drive will run from Monday, October 19 to Thursday, November 19.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The world didn't start with Olmsted. For millennia before and in the centuries since Frederick Law Olmsted designed the Emerald Necklace park system for a rapidly industrializing city and metropolitan area, the lands and waters of and around Greater Boston have served as a site of exchange among communities including the Massachusett, Pawtucket, Wampanoag and Nipmuc peoples. The Emerald Necklace Conservancy acknowledges the Greater Boston region as their unceded ancestral territories. This acknowledgement is a starting point toward right relations with Indigenous neighbors and their understandings of land stewardship.
