DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with Yang’s Martial Arts Association of Boston. \nClass Location: Jamaica Pond – Pinebank Promontory \nInstructor: Joe Best \nJoe Best started his martial arts training in Uechi Ryu Karate Do in 1970 under George Mattson and earned his black belt in 1977. \nHis Tai Chi practice began in 1980 at the Chinese Wushu Research Institute with Master Bow Sim Mark where he was also introduced to Hsing Yi and Bagua. \nIn 1985 Joe joined the Tai Chi program at Yang’s Martial Arts Association and began teaching in 1988. Joe has always had a strong interest in the technical aspects of the arts in general and of the internal aspects in particular. He is also a licensed massage therapist. \n— \nTai Chi (Taijiquan) is a sequence of postures connected by flowing movement\, practiced with focused breathing and a calm mind – a type of moving meditation. The slow\, smooth movements gently stimulate the internal organs and joints\, and improve energy circulation. Tai Chi is a gentle\, low-impact exercise suitable for adults of any age and varying physical ability. Practicing Tai Chi can reduce stress\, increase energy\, balance\, and flexibility\, and ease symptoms of many health problems such as high blood pressure\, asthma\, back pain\, and arthritis. \nLocated in the heart of Roslindale Village\, Yang’s Martial Arts Association (YMAA) of Boston offers Tai Chi\, Kung Fu\, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu\, Kettlebell and Kids Kung Fu classes. Please check back here for updates or call us at 617-522-2700. \nAndres Guerra is a professional classical guitarist\, arranger and composer from Venezuela that expands the boundaries of classical guitar music through his wide musical versatility and knowledge. He has played in concert and collaborated with a wide variety of artists\, some of the caliber of Grammy-winning Aida Cuevas\, Berta Rojas and Paquito d’ Rivera.  \nHe recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Scoring and Performance from Berklee College Of Music where he was awarded a Tuition Scholarship by the institution itself\, as well as a Gifted Tuition Scholarship by the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation. Recently he was awarded the William Leavitt achievement award by the Guitar Department at Berklee.

From weddings and private parties\, to rock and jazz venues\, Brett has entertained all audiences with his distinctive style of playing. Learn more about Brett at www.brettgladstonemusic.com. \nPatricia Ligia Trio \nPatricia Ligia Trio is a jazz power trio featuring Santiago Galeano (Argentina) on piano\, Carles Pereira (Spain) on drums\, and Patricia Ligia (Uruguay) on bass. Formed in Boston\, in the midst of the Berklee College of Music experience\, the unique background of each band member puts on the table a whole new palette of colors\, and offers a peculiar take on Brazilian and Latin music in general. Heavily influenced by the sounds of the “Río de la Plata”\, Ligia’s Trio takes the best of three worlds to converge it into an unforgettable music experience.\nPatricia Ligia is a bass player and composer from Montevideo\, Uruguay. She started in music playing piano at the age of 9 but not until she was 14 she grabbed the electric bass and immediately fell for it. Patricia’s musical training is very diverse\, a mix of self-taught and formal academic; always in pursuit of her musical concerns and interests! Her curiosity led her to establish a musical relationship with her neighbour country\, Brazil\, from an early age. Patricia is currently living in Boston and has recently graduated from Berklee College of Music in Jazz Composition. \nRukan Khondker \nRukan and Dan are performers and educators originally from New York. They share a deep love for the Great American Songbook and playing music that brings together generations of people. A duo of Dan the multi-instrumentalist and Rukan\, a vocalist and voice teacher\, their sound is eclectic\, joyful and easy on the ears.

DESCRIPTION:Join Emerald Necklace Conservancy staff and volunteers in the Kelleher Rose Garden to deadhead and prune roses and to weed the rose beds and borders. Training and tools are provided. \nThere is a 10-person capacity limit for this event and registration is required in order to participate. Those who register will automatically receive an email from Joelle Boyle\, the Land Stewardship Coordinator\, with further details\, including the necessary waivers to sign and specific information on where to meet and what to expect on the day of the event. \nPlease email volunteer@emeraldnecklace.org with inquiries on this event or other volunteer opportunities. \nCOVID-19 policy: The Conservancy has been closely monitoring health and safety guidelines set by the City of Boston\, the Town of Brookline\, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since the beginning of the pandemic. Please check back here for updates or call us at 617-522-2700. \n  \nEli Heath Ensemble \nEli Heath is an emerging American bassist\, composer\, and producer\, currently located in Boston\, Massachusetts. He has appeared on recordings and at major festivals and venues across North America\, Europe and Brazil with artists including Kenny Werner\, Luciana Souza\, Charles Neville\, Dominick Farinacci\, Nicole Henry\, and Jamey Haddad. Joining him will be Roy Ben Bashat on guitar and Tyson Jackson on Drums. \nJason Ji \nJason Ji is a multigenre fingerstyle guitarist and singer-songwriter from Australia\, a one-man band playing a travel-sized guitar to its most resonating and ear-catching potential. The legendary funk and soul guitarist Nile Rodgers couldn’t help but laugh in joy when he heard Ji’s playing. Ji was classically trained from age 11 through high school and eventually taught himself fingerstyle by watching videos online from the likes of Tommy Emmanuel and Emil Ernebro. In 2019\, he was featured in Berklee’s Guitar Night: Pop and Rock concert as the only soloist\, the Berklee International Folk Festival\, and on China’s Got Talent. He’s preparing to release his indie-folk debut EP in fall 2021.

DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with Yang’s Martial Arts Association of Boston. \nClass Location: Schoolmaster Hill\, Franklin Park \nInstructor: Joe Best \nJoe Best started his martial arts training in Uechi Ryu Karate Do in 1970 under George Mattson and earned his black belt in 1977. \nHis Tai Chi practice began in 1980 at the Chinese Wushu Research Institute with Master Bow Sim Mark where he was also introduced to Hsing Yi and Bagua. \nIn 1985 Joe joined the Tai Chi program at Yang’s Martial Arts Association and began teaching in 1988. Joe has always had a strong interest in the technical aspects of the arts in general and of the internal aspects in particular. He is also a licensed massage therapist. \n— \nTai Chi (Taijiquan) is a sequence of postures connected by flowing movement\, practiced with focused breathing and a calm mind – a type of moving meditation. The slow\, smooth movements gently stimulate the internal organs and joints\, and improve energy circulation. Tai Chi is a gentle\, low-impact exercise suitable for adults of any age and varying physical ability. Practicing Tai Chi can reduce stress\, increase energy\, balance\, and flexibility\, and ease symptoms of many health problems such as high blood pressure\, asthma\, back pain\, and arthritis. \nLocated in the heart of Roslindale Village\, Yang’s Martial Arts Association (YMAA) of Boston offers Tai Chi\, Kung Fu\, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu\, Kettlebell and Kids Kung Fu classes. Forest Bathing\, inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku\, is a restorative sensory exploration that supports health and healing for all beings. From increased cerebral blood flow to stronger immune defenses\, come discover for yourself what happens when we unplug\, slow down and open our senses to notice more of our natural surroundings.  Forest Bathing is part of a global effort to tend to the stressful conditions of living in modern industrialized civilization.  All the prompts\, invitations\, sharing and ways of participating are optional and open to interpretation. \nAbout Tam Willey\nthey/she/he\nTam is a certified forest therapy guide\, trainer\, mentor and teacher with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy and is the founder of “Toadstool Walks\,” a guiding practice based in Boston\, Massachusetts.  Tam has guided Forest Therapy in collaboration with The Arnold Arboretum\, The Emerald Necklace Conservancy\, Mass Audubon\, Boston Harbor Now\, Peabody Essex Museum\, Lesley University Holistic Psychology and Wellness\, Boston University School Of Theology\, and more.  Tam is passionate about the ways that forest therapy can build our collective empathy and compassion\, broadening and healing relationships\, human and beyond\, supporting our re-membering that we are not only in relationship with nature but rather that we are nature.
