The Emerald Necklace Conservancy has an opening for a communications and public relations assistant who will work closely with the Director of External Relations to promote the mission of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy. The assistant will manage social media, write and edit articles for a monthly e-newsletter; maintain regular contact with local media to promote stories about the Emerald Necklace and manage the welcome desk at the Center, greeting visitors and answering parks-related questions. This is a unique opportunity for a communications major or similar with an interest in parks preservation and the environment.
The intern will have the opportunity to develop a portfolio, strengthen writing skills and work on projects that have a significant and lasting impact, all within a supportive and mentoring environment.
Manage the welcome desk at the Shattuck Visitor Center, greeting visitors and answering park-related questions. Develop and write news stories for monthly e-newsletter, press releases, and event notices. Duties include research, fact-checking, publications layout and design, and setting deadlines. Maintain regular contact with local media to promote stories and story ideas about the Necklace and the work of the Conservancy. Prepare promotional materials and mailings, including event invitations, posters, and other collaterals. Update calendar of events. Maintain media book.
