Hello. As you probably surmised by clicking on my name, I am Zachary Tosi. I am a fun-loving, hard-rocking senior at EdCo youth alternative High School in Kenmore Square (Fun Fact: it’s the same building the CITGO sign is on top of). I fancy myself a musician and if I could make a career out of playing music that is certainly what I would like to do. My instrument of choice is guitar, though I can play bass, harmonica, piano, ukulele and dabble with the xylophone. My musical taste is very diverse but some of my favorite Musical Artists are Pink Floyd, the Talking Heads, Traffic, Willie Nelson…the list goes on. I also am a fervent reader and consume literature as fast as I come upon it, my favorite author by far being Kurt Vonnegut Jr. My interests also include visual art, astronomy, collecting vinyl, bicycling and snowboarding. I like hanging out with my friends and relaxing.
I started working for the Emerald Necklace’s 2009 Summer Youth Green Team through ABCD where my competence, intelligence and ardent work ethic soon distinguished me from my peers, so much so that at the end of the summer the program director, Kate England, made the choice to keep me on board as a member of the Leadership Program.I’ve for the most part had a good experience and have learned a great deal about botany, landscaping and how to be effective group leader. This program has endowed me with skills I might not have otherwise developed and has given me a greater appreciation for the Boston park system. Furthermore, it instilled in me a love of working outdoors, I thoroughly enjoy working outside in the parks, I like the physical challenge, the (at times) tranquil atmosphere and the soothing feeling of working with nature. I take pride in beautifying the city and take pleasure in the satisfaction of a job well done.
