Hi our names are Jackson and Raynel. On April 08, we worked in the Victory Gardens. At first we started working at the Special Needs Garden. The Special Needs Garden is used by people with wheelchairs, so we helped them to maintain their plot. We raked some leaves, picked up branches and removed dead plants. Afterwards, we wheel barrowed these unwanted materials to the compost. We cut dead plants from last year, so new ones could grow this year. We also restored the pathway by sweeping the dirt.
Next, we worked in our own plot, the Students Learning through Urban Gardening (SLUG) Plot. We weeded invasive plants and separated dead plants from the rocks on the path that the Green Team created last summer. We also raked some leaves and twigs. After removing these unwanted plants, we used the hoes and iron bow rakes to level the soil and remove grass from the soil. When we were finished, both plots looked very different and unique. The paths were clear and the individual plants were visible.
