I remember one day at work, when we had to walk from the Victory Gardens to the Route 9 Bridge. First, we went to the War Memorials and I saw all the names of the people from Boston who had died in War World II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. I learn a lot cool stuff I didn’t know before. I got to see the statue of the Angel of Victory at the war memorials and then right next to it there is Clemente Field. This field accommodates softball, soccer, football, and has a running track. That day I got to play some catch with Franklin, who works with me at the Conservancy. Then later that day we walked all through the Riverway.
While we were walking on our walking tour around the park, I saw a few guys cleaning the water in the Riverway. Their job was to take out the trash out of the water and clean up all of the problems caused by the rain storms in March. Some of the Muddy River is under ground [in a culvert] and all of the rain made the rivers and ponds overflow. When the water goes under ground, it gets contaminated by all of the soil and it can’t flow as well.
We learned a lot on the tour and got to see all of the parts of the park that Kate showed us in the powerpoint. It was a really nice day and we all walked, talked and laughed the whole time.
