The Riverway is the narrowest park in the Emerald Necklace.  It lies in the valley of the Muddy River, which is the boundary between Boston and Brookline.  The Riverway is entirely man-made and has steep banks.  Its edges are wooded by beech trees that separate park users from the busy road.  The Muddy River flows from Olmsted Park through the Back Bay Fens to the Charles River.

Olmsted Park was named by the City of Boston and the Town of Brookline to honor the man who designed the Emerald Necklace.  This park has woodlands, meadows and three ponds: Ward’s, Willow and Leverett.  Olmsted Park also has a rare and endangered fish called the Three-spine stickleback.  People like to walk along the boardwalk of Ward’s Pond or walk across the different footbridges.
