iNaturalist City Challenge Nature Walk

April 14, 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

TWO WALKS ON THE SAME DAY! (Register for either walk below)
Friday, April 14
12:30 pm: Meet at the Green Line Longwood T-Stop
2:30 pm: Meet at Daisy Field, Olmsted Park (especially geared toward children and their families)

Join us in a fun nationwide challenge to see which city can document the most species during April 14 – 18. (Go Boston!) As part of the iNaturalist City Challenge, the Conservancy will present two nature walks.

The walks will be led by Earthwatch Volunteer Nicole Kucherov. Nicole is a high school science teacher at Beacon Charter High School, where she teaches Biology, Earth and Space Science and Science Ethics. She is studying for her master’s degree in Biology in Miami University Global Field Program, with a focus on the effects of native vs. non-native plants on biodiversity. At Beacon, Nicole runs the Envirothon Club where she coaches students for a competition about the environment in preparation for careers in environmental science.

You can also make observations on your own using the iNaturalist app to take and upload pictures of plants, animals and insects in your own neighborhood and local parks.
