Monday, July 12th - Crew 3 all assembled at Daisy Field in the morning to clean up the area. Later in the morning, however, the group of young adults moved towards moved down to Perkins Street near Jamaica Pond for further cleanup. The youth who were hired to work for the Emerald Necklace, along with supervisor Kate and crew leaders Zach and Shanee, all worked together to clean up the Jamaica Pond fields to make it more presentable to the Public. Stairs were cleaned up and dusted off and grassy fields full of leaves were raked and taken care of appropriately. Isolated thunderstorms in the area rained out the workers for the day.
Tuesday, July 13th - Coming together at 10:00 AM was the start of the day for the crew. The day's objective for the Emerald Necklace Conservancy was to return back to Daisy Field and finish the general cleanup for the area. Cleanup consisted of many separate jobs as there was the open field and the forests that needed to be inspected and cleaned out. The crew was divided into groups and each group went through a path of the woodlands to sweep up and rake the paths and remove the little things that would trip up a person (sticks, etc.) The crews also removed invasive species or of plants that would violate the "4 feet wide, 8 feet tall space to walk." To finish up the day, the crews went around the paths to pick up the trash and to make the park look as nice as we could.
Wednesday, July 14th - Exploring the world of science was today's objective of the Emerald Necklace. The group met up at the Museum of Science at Science park on the green line of the MBTA. The group was split up and was sent off through the museum to explore the advancements in technology and other interesting exhibits. We watched the lightning show and it was explained to the visitors how to be safe during these natural forces. Many other exhibitions were open for the Green Team to go around, explore, and learn during the day's adventure.
Thursday, July 15th - Sports night from 5-8 PM was on the agenda. The Green Team's mission is to present and host a Sports Night every Thursday until mid August. The crew met up at the office of the Emerald Necklace at 3:00 PM and from there, two groups were formed and each had a route to walk to Franklin Park, where Sports Night is held. On the way, each group was given a duty to hand out as many fliers as possible to the people around the area to get young adults/ teenagers to attend Sports Night. There was free food and sports of every kind available for the people that attended, and the Green Team had to help supervise as well as clean up at the end of Sports Night.
