After climbing a couple miles up a mountain, we finally reached the top. From here, we could see lakes and other mountains. It was like looking at a map, but it was real. We were sweating and sticky. No one had deodorant on. At the summit, it was breezy and relaxing. It was the end of April and there was still snow up there. We gathered snow and used it to cool us down. Some of the snow melted into water. We sat near this small body of water and relaxed our feet in it. We ate some snacks and drank some water and took some pictures. We were not only people there. There were other hikers including some dogs and young children, too. Since we were not going to stay on Mount Cardigan, we continued hiking, but this time downwards.
The hike downwards was steep and we were afraid that we might fall. We slipped a couple times, but no one got hurt. When we finally reached the hut, some of us just fell asleep on the bunks. Others played card games and made loud noises. We played cards for a long time, even past sun set and in the dark. While we were playing, some of us were cooking dinner. We had rice and curry chicken which were delicious. For dessert, we had s’mores. After eating, we continued playing cards. Some of us tried to sleep, but others were flashing lights and making loud noises. We all fell asleep around midnight.
